Becca Hart's life is crumbling around her with a boyfriend who has decided it is not working out and her job at the college ending. With no new prospects in sight, Becca gets an interview at OSU in Oklahoma. She doesn't expect to meet Tucker Jenkins nor spend a night of complete passion with him. However it is one night only and when Becca gets the job and moves to Oklahoma, she doesn't expect to see Tucker again. They can't keep their hands off one another but can they have something for more than one night?

There is a lot more to the story especially where Tucker is concerned. I liked this, wasn't sure if I would like Becca initially because she sounded high maintenance but she is not at all. Great read, definitely interest in more from this series.

There was no denying the sparks that flew the first night they met at the rodeo. Cue to one month later. At a mixer to introduce her as the newest faculty member, Becca is horrified to find out her one-night-stand, bull-riding-cowboy Tuck is actually a full-fledged military-sciences member of the OSU faculty too. After the initial shock of seeing her again, Tuck decides one night is definitely not enough and the pursuit is on. He is brought up short by his commanding officer one day with incriminating photos of the couple kissing in the campus library, a direct violation of the university's faculty non-fraternization rule. What is a man to do? I'm not going to spoil it for you!

I love this story, this series and this author. The protagonists and supporting cast are well rounded, with all but Becca and her sister Emma having a long family history with the others. It's fun watching Becca adapt to life in the west. Author Cat Johnson does such an exceptional job bringing the west to life in the jargon, food, smells, fashion, home and family that you feel like you are right in the story too. I love that! Really good story of love with the sexy cowboy and the English professor. Being from totally different worlds and thousands of miles apart they both figured they were safe with one night of hot sex and they could go back to their own lives. Little did both Tucker and Becca know that one night was only the beginning. Becca got the job she applied for totally unaware that Tucker also worked at the same university. At the mixer for Becca to meet her new colleagues she was shocked to see the one man she never thought she'd see again. Tucker was just as shocked. That was the beginning of the relationship neither wanted to admit was happening between them. They had obstacles to get through and the author did a great job of telling their story. It was romantic and sexy. Just an overall feel good read. Great start to the series and can't wait to see what happens in the next book. Highly recommend.
If I could give this book less than 1 star, I would. It's the most boring book I've ever attempted to read and I cannot imagine how or why other reviewers gave this romance high marks. Perhaps those readers simply ran out of cowboy romances and decided this novel was better than nothing. I disagree. The plot plods along so slowly it's like trying to carry twice your weight while crossing the desert at high noon. As soon as you begin the trek, you seriously doubt you are going to make it. I tried. I put great effort into trying to read it. I'm one of those eternally optimistic readers, sure the book is going to improve any moment. It has to be very bad for me to give up, but it was and I did, preferring to die in the desert rather than put one more foot in front of the other. The characters are so poorly developed that I do not even remember basic descriptions about them. I honestly don't remember what they looked like. The dialogue is stilted and as predictable as the other parts of the book. I smiled mildly at the writer's first attempt at humor, then realized that every further attempt was as funny as deviled ham and just as potted. Perhaps the saddest part about this story are the bedroom scenes. They weren't even interesting. I found myself hurriedly skimming past what are suppose to be the most exciting parts of a hot, contemporary romance. That is just sad. I have not attempted to read anything else by this writer. I get horribly thirsty ever time I contemplate another excursion with her. I CANNOT recommend this writer.
